Basalt, Andesite, and Rhyolite Source Universe
Arizona |
California |
Hawaii |
Idaho |
Nevada |
Oregon |
Utah
All the basalt geochemical sources listed below have been analyzed at the Northwest Research Obsidian Studies Laboratory and are considered as adequately characterized. These sources make up the basalt source reference universe with which basalt and andesite artifact trace element data are compared and correlated. At the present time, only sources in the Lake Tahoe area are described in any detail. In the near future, however, we will be expanding our basalt source information and will provide compositional information for all sources.
